Missouri governor slams paper for uncovering data security flaw

Republican Gov. Mike Parson on Thursday condemned one of Missouri’s largest newspapers for exposing a flaw in a state database that allowed public access to thousands of teachers’ Social Security numbers, even though the paper held off from reporting about the flaw until after the state could fix it. more

Case study: Newspaper taps into 20k Facebook audience by implementing Social Media Autopost

Social media is a great resource for marketing that should be automated as much as possible (using Buffer or a website plugin). In this case study, a community newspaper had 20,000 followers on Facebook, but no website. Launching its first site a few weeks ago was like building a town in 1850 with no connection to the transcontinental railroad. But by posting article links to the website on Facebook, the paper created an immediate channel from the audience it had been developing for years. more
