Family and independent owners to meet in New Orleans, Oct. 14-15

Family and independently-owned newspapers are the backbone of America’s Newspapers and of our industry.  From the legacy organizations of Inland and SNPA to today’s America’s Newspapers, we are committed to the needs of these important ownership groups.

Set for October 14-15 in New Orleans, this meeting will be held in conjunction with our annual Senior Leadership Conference (October 16-18.)

Dean Ridings, CEO of America's Newspapers, said: "We are making some enhancements to our Family Owners program, without losing the intimate setting that has made the meeting so valuable for many years.  We are adding issues of interest to independently-owned newspapers to expand this group and build broader ideas and connections.  This will expand the group beyond just the family ownership to include C-suite and senior executives as well.  As a family owner, this could be a good opportunity to include your senior leader in the meeting."

On Saturday morning, our hosts from The Advocate and The Times-Picayune, publisher Judi Terzotis and members of the Georges family (the owners), will lead a discussion about the importance of entrepreneurship and creating new revenue streams.  This session will have value to newspapers of all sizes.

In the afternoon, attendees will break into small groups for dedicated, confidential discussion with their peers.  One track will be dedicated exclusively to family owners and other family members to discuss the unique operational and structural issues they face.  Another track will be specifically for the non-family CEO and C-suite level executives to discuss their business challenges and solutions.

Since this meeting is in New Orleans, we will start the meeting on Friday night by celebrating together — with some of the best food anywhere — at the world-famous Galatoire’s on Bourbon Street. This is a great time to share your new ideas and talk casually with your fellow independent and family owners.

After the meeting in New Orleans, this group will meet quarterly by Zoom, and in the Spring the group will be hosted — again, in person — by one of the members.

Join us in New Orleans Oct. 14-15 ... and then stay for the America's Newspapers annual meeting: the Senior Leadership Conference.
