Melanie Bell of The Palm Beach Daily News, Palm Beach, Fla., has been awarded GRAND PRIZE honors (as well as first-place in the features category) in SNPA's annual Photo / Video Contest.
The photo shows two women reaching across the aisle to join hands during a prayer at an anti-gun concert.
First place in other contest categories went to Ana Ramirez, Austin American-Statesman, for best video; Tommy Metthe, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, for best spot news photo; and Scott Rogers, The Times, Gainesville, Ga., for best sports photo.

Many advertisers find the process they must go through to place public notices to be frustrating, Legislators what to change the law to move legal notices out of newspapers (and onto state and local websites) and publishers are doing their best to make the process work.
