Newsroom employees of The Charlotte Observer have formed a union.
The McClatchy Co., which owns The Observer, voluntarily recognized the Charlotte Observer News Guild on Wednesday.
In announcing the recognition, The Observer’s executive editor, Rana L. Cash, said: “Since joining The Charlotte Observer newsroom as executive editor in October, I have been witness to a team of gifted journalists who care deeply about our communities and are committed to transformative journalism that makes a difference."
