Call to action: Take part in survey about media deserts and sustainability of local journalism

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the danger of “news deserts” — a term used to describe regions that lack a dedicated local newspaper or other reliable local news sources. For democratic societies, the loss of local news has significant political, social and economic implications. To better understand the current and future state of the news and publishing industry and the various factors that undermine the sustainability of local journalism, PressReader has developed a survey in partnership with a Princeton University sociologist.

As an advocate and tech solution provider for the publishing industry, PressReader believes that our actions now will determine our industry's future. We would love to invite you to contribute your valuable perspective to the survey. There are a total of 33 questions, divided into five sections — taking 10-15 minutes to complete.

The results of the survey will be made accessible to all participants and partner organizations. Participants will have the chance to enter a drawing for an iPad. Thank you in advance for your time!
