The challenges and rewards of getting creative and sales working as a team

As a creative services supervisor with 30 years of experience, Tara Easter works closely with her publication’s sales reps and knows the valuable role clear communication can play in producing effective ads efficiently. With a staff that has transitioned to working from home since the pandemic, the company is working on ways to facilitate more effective teamwork between sales and creative departments. Here are a few takeaways from our conversation with Easter to help teams collaborate, communicate and streamline success:

An image is worth a thousand words. Easter has found that if sales reps choose the image they’d like to anchor an ad, this helps put the creative team on the right track from the beginning. She says this saves valuable time, minimizes back-and-forth revisions and makes the sales reps’ ideas better.

Easter uses MetroCreativeConnection.com (MCC) to find images and ad inspiration, and encourages sales reps to do the same. The user-friendly site makes it easy for anyone to peruse spec ads and images with just a click.

Easter has found that articles from the MCC Editorial Library can be a time-saving solution to quickly round out group pages when there is space left to fill.

The MCC Lightbox and Project Organizer features allow users to save ads, images, articles and ideas. With the Project Organizer, a user can create multiple collections with the option to add notes and share with teams.

She cites the recent 30 Minutes to Making the Most of Your Metro Subscription webinar as a particularly helpful tool for sales and creative teams to quickly familiarize themselves with all the ways MCC can help them save time, collaborate and create great ads.
