Setting sail for success: Five game-changing strategies for using data in your newsroom

Posted

We're all drowning in a sea of data! With so much information available to us, it's easy to get lost in the vast ocean of analytics. Here are five best practices to help you chart your course with BLOX Data Insights.

1. Get your entire organization on board

Data can only help you if you use it! Invite your team to join in on the data analysis process and discuss what metrics are in line with your goals. By sharing and collaborating, you can gain deeper insights into your business and make informed decisions. Plus, it's always more fun to work as a team!

2. Put your data on display

Display your data dashboards on a monitor in your newsroom. You can even customize the column display to show what is relevant to your team. For example, you may want to highlight metrics such as subscriber percentage, author name or views. By having your data on display, you can keep everyone in the loop.

3. Track metrics that align with your goals

Choose the right metrics that align with your goals and report them to your team on a recurring cadence. If you notice a decline, don't panic. Instead, discuss with your team what changes can be made to improve the situation. Some examples of metrics you may want to track include pageviews, articles published, new subscribers or other industry KPIs.

4. Follow what's trending

Keep a close eye on your Trending and Editorial dashboards. If you see a metric that seems odd or out of place, investigate further. Is there a story from your archives that is trending and could be resurfaced? Do you have a newsletter set up for your top sections? There may be an idea for a story or an opportunity to promote your content even more.

5. See what's leading to conversions

Are particular articles or topics sparking conversations in your audience? If so, leverage them to your advantage! By analyzing your data and tracking what works, you can make informed decisions and create better, more engaging content.

By following these best practices, you can easily navigate the ocean of analytics, gain deeper insights into your business, and make data-driven decisions. Remember, data analysis doesn't have to be boring  — you can make it fun and beneficial for everyone on board!
