Guest columns and letters to the editor are an important part of The Daily News in Galveston, Texas. In this column inspired by a handwritten response to a recent guest column in the paper, Publisher Leonard Woolsey wrote: "I strongly feel our community deserves a forum that fosters civil and respectful discussions. ... Regardless of whether The Daily News agrees or not with a local resident’s opinion, we will always value that resident’s voice and fight for the person’s right to speak."

The New York Times Company announced on Wednesday that Arthur Ochs Sulzberger Jr., 69, will retire as chairman and a member of its board of directors on Dec. 31 and will be succeeded as chairman by A.G. Sulzberger, 40, Times publisher since 2018. Sulzberger Jr. will assume the title chairman emeritus.

A new leadership team has been appointed for The State Journal in Frankfort, Kentucky. Steve Stewart, who is stepping down as publisher, announced the promotions of Chanda Veno, Meri Latek, Sheri Bunker and Austin Horn, who collectively will lead day-to-day operations.

A. H. Belo Corporation’s stock listing will move from the New York Stock Exchange to Nasdaq on June 29, when it begins trading under the new DallasNews Corporation name. The ticker symbol for the parent company of The Dallas Morning News will become DALN.
