The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press sent a letter to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Commissioner Dermot F. Shea, calling for law enforcement officers to stop attacking and arresting credentialed journalists covering protests that began after a white police officer killed George Floyd, a Black man, in Minneapolis on May 25. The letter was co-signed by 122 media and press freedom organizations, including America's Newspapers.
