The Center Square is pleased to announce the addition of Carleen Johnson, a staple of Seattle broadcast journalism, to its Washington state team.

Johnson will focus on state government coverage in her role with The Center Square. Her work will be shared across the state and the nation as part of The Center Square newswire service. She will also be featured on Washington in Focus, The Center Square’s weekly podcast.

Listeners can also plan to hear Johnson deliver regular updates on the news that matters most to Washingtonians on KVI radio, where she will regularly join John Carlson during his show, 6-9 a.m. weekdays.

Johnson has covered the greater Puget Sound area for more than three decades. Her career in the region includes on-air work at nearly a dozen radio stations. She joined Seattle KVI/KOMO in 1998. Since then, she has served as a news anchor on KVI and a field reporter for KOMO radio, which recently became KNWN.

“Carleen is an outstanding journalist, and her commitment to accuracy and balance will serve to further improve our reporting from Seattle, Olympia, and across the state,” Chris Krug, publisher of The Center Square, said. “At a time when news organizations are pulling back, we are building our newsroom with seasoned professionals who understand the communities they serve. Carleen knows the sources, she understands the marketplace and we are thrilled to have her on our team.”

The Center Square is the nation’s foremost source of original straight news that focuses on taxpayer-centric issues in its coverage of local, state and federal governments.
