From its very creation, America’s Newspapers proclaimed that a core mission would be advocacy on behalf of its members, the industry and the free press.

Our advocacy mission is built on three pillars: Defending freedom of the press and expression; remaining vigilant and ready to express the viewpoint of newspapers on government legislation or action that might benefit or hinder their publishing, newsgathering or business operations; and demanding equity with digital platforms that use and monetize the content newspapers create.

Our advocacy is all the stronger when it is amplified by our member newspapers. Here’s how you can help:

  • Publish the columns, editorials and editorial cartoons on issues that America’s Newspapers makes available free of charge.
  • Contact your local Congressional delegation directly to urge them to support the issues important to you and other America’s Newspapers members. Contact information for House and Senate members is at www.usa.gov/elected-officials.
  • Publish the advocacy ads in print and digital formats that America’s Newspapers offers free of charge. Find them at newspapers.org/marketing-trusted-source/
  • Retweet, like and share postings from America’s Newspapers advocacy outreach on social media such as the @newspapersorg Twitter feed.

Help America’s Newspapers stand with America’s newspapers.
