Marcia Pledger, a former financial journalist and columnist for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, has been named The Florida Times-Union's new opinion and engagement editor.
She is the first woman and the first Black journalist in the position last served by Mike Clark, who retired in 2020.
"Marcia is an accomplished journalist who cares deeply about people and their communities," said Times-Union Editor Mary Kelli Palka. "I was thrilled when she accepted my offer to join our newsroom, lead our editorial page and help expand our community engagement efforts. I look forward to our readers getting to know Marcia in the coming months."
