Kentucky Standard to drop Friday edition

Posted

The Kentucky Standard will become a twice-weekly newspaper following the printing of its final Friday edition Nov. 1.

“This is a business decision driven by one factor — advertising,” said Scott Moore, publisher of The Standard. “Reducing the frequency of publication is a decision many newspapers have faced in recent years as advertiser dollars have shifted to online and away from supporting local journalism.”

Moore said the Friday edition has been the least popular edition among advertisers for several years, so it made sense to cut that day when considering reducing publication frequency.

The newspaper will be printed on Wednesdays and Sundays.
