Jim Falzone, a longtime and highly esteemed employee of the company, has been named publisher of North of Boston Media Group.
Falzone previously served as general manager for the eight newspapers that comprise North of Boston Media Group in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. In addition, he serves as vice president of production for parent company CNHI, LLC, and is president of the Northeast Association of Communication Executives.
“Jim is one of the finest newspaper executives I have ever met,” said Donna Barrett, chief executive officer of CNHI. “I have had the pleasure of working with Jim for years and his dedication to the success of these newspapers is inspiring.”
She added, “He cares and it shows.”
A graduate of Binghamton University in New York, Falzone began his executive newspaper career in 1994 as operations director for the Gannett-owned Ithaca Journal in New York. He also oversaw ad design and prepress operations for the Gannett Press & Sun-Bulletin in Binghamton, New York.
He joined The Eagle-Tribune in North Andover and its seven affiliated papers as production manager in March of 2003, leading large-scale print and online projects, and overseeing press operations, print quality, pre-press and ad design. Four years later, he moved up to general manager, responsible for the day-to-day functions of the operation.
Falzone has been the recipient of production management awards from CNHI LLC, Presstime magazine, and Editor & Publisher magazine.
As publisher, he said he’s eager to support the company’s mission to save local newspapers during challenging times for the news industry.
