Hearst's Steve Swartz addresses effect from coronavirus in annual letter

In an annual letter published on Monday, Hearst President and CEO Steve Swartz said the effect from the new coronavirus on their business has been minor, “but there is no way to predict whether or not that will remain the case.”

He said the company has experienced one known confirmed case at its South San Francisco-based First Databank, where about 120 people are employed.  That office has temporarily been closed and staff is working from home through the end of next week while the office is being expertly cleaned and disinfected.

He said the company will continue to evaluate the safety of its offices on a daily basis, and any colleague who feels uncomfortable coming into work has been advised to talk with their manager about working from home where possible.
