Nearly 75 years after it was built, newspaper's downtown building is for sale

It has been filled over seven decades with reporters, editors, photographers, designers, salespeople, press operators, executives, custodians and countless other employees. 

Now, nearly 75 years after it was built, The Courier Journal building at 525 W. Broadway is up for sale.

Kentucky's largest newsroom, however, is dedicated to being a strong presence in Louisville, likely downtown, and will publish online and in print as normal while exploring other office options better designed for today's journalism, Executive Editor Mary Irby-Jones said.

The building went on the market Friday with a listing price of $17 million.
