The United States Tennis Association and The Associated Press have announced a multiyear agreement that makes AP the exclusive worldwide distributor of USTA images from the US Open and other select American professional tennis events.

The commercial agreement, which runs through 2022, will see the library of USTA-owned photos from a number of American professional tennis events — namely the US Open, US Open Series tournaments and U.S. Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup — made available for editorial use via the news agency’s commercial photo platform, AP Images.

“Working with a preeminent worldwide news organization like The Associated Press is an incredible step toward increasing the reach and exposure of American professional tennis events around the globe,” said Chris Widmaier, managing director, USTA Corporate Communications.

“We are pleased to be the exclusive commercial provider of these key USTA photos,” said Lloyd Pawlak, AP global director of digital and commercial sales. “It’s exciting to add these dynamic tennis images to AP’s extensive collection.”

USTA photos became available for licensing via AP Images on March 8.

The Associated Press provides instant access to AP's iconic photographs and adds new content every minute of every day from every corner of the world, making it an essential source of over 37 million photos.
