Shannon Welch will become general manager of the Des Moines (Iowa) Register, effective Oct. 1, the company announced Thursday.
In his new role, Welch, currently Gannett's vice president of advertising sales for Iowa, Kansas and Missouri, will work with Register Executive Editor Carol Hunter to strengthen relationships with local businesses and drive community-based strategies and engagement.
A marketing graduate of Iowa State University, Welch has been with Gannett, owner of the Register, for 10 years in a variety of sales roles. He is on the board of the Greater Des Moines Partnership.
