CNHI, LLC has announced the promotion of Sharon Sorg and Robyn McCloskey to executive vice president/newspaper operations to support the company’s commitment to local journalism and community engagement.

Donna Barrett, CNHI president and CEO, said Sorg and McCloskey would split administrative responsibility for the group’s newspapers, digital platforms and magazines in the 22 states they serve.

The new executive vice presidents/newspaper operations will report directly to Barrett.

“Sharon and Robyn are both exceptionally talented newspaper executives,” said Barrett. “We are fortunate to have them in key leadership positions. CNHI is a stronger company because of their commitment to community journalism.”

Sorg currently serves as CNHI regional executive for newspapers in four states. She is also the publisher of her hometown Sharon, Pennsylvania, Herald and regional publisher for four other papers in two states.

“I am thrilled to assist so many of our newspaper teams whose hard work inspires me every day,” said Sorg. “They are passionate about delivering credible news and advertising that serves their audiences across print and online platforms now and for many years to come.”

McCloskey has been a CNHI regional executive since 2021, with current responsibility for newspapers in six states. She is also the publisher of the Kokomo Tribune and Logansport Pharos-Tribune in Indiana.

A native of Indianapolis and a journalism degree graduate of Vincennes University, McCloskey began her newspaper career as an advertising representative in 1990 at the Pharos-Tribune. CNHI later acquired the paper and promoted her to publisher.

“I am excited to tackle the challenges and opportunities the community newspaper business presents,” said McCloskey of her expanded responsibilities. “CNHI is made up of dedicated people and I know that together we can meet the news and information expectations their communities want, need and deserve.”
