Chip Minemyer, publisher of The Tribune-Democrat in Johnstown and The Times-News of Cumberland, Maryland, has been named publisher of The Daily Item (Sunbury, Pennsylvania) and The Danville News, CNHI announced Monday.
Minemyer succeeds Sharon Sorg as publisher. Sorg is now one of two CNHI executive vice presidents of newspaper operations to support the company’s commitment to local journalism and community engagement.
"I'm excited to be working with the great team at The Daily Item, which is a great honor for me personally and professionally," Minemyer said. "I grew up in Central Pennsylvania and have always held this newspaper in high esteem. My respect for this team has only grown as we've worked together on projects for CNHI in recent years."
Minemyer was named editor of The Tribune-Democrat in 2004. He also served as the executive editor at the Centre Daily Times in State College from 2012 to 2014 before returning to The Tribune-Democrat. He also serves as publisher for Johnstown Magazine and Allegany Magazine and will assume the same roles with The Daily Item's Inside PA Magazine.
A Penn State University graduate with a degree in communications, Minemyer has served at nearly every level of The Tribune-Democrat newsroom, first joining the newspaper as a copy editor in the sports department before becoming sports editor, news editor and then editor.

Minemyer has also served as regional editor for CNHI’s newspapers in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, West Virginia and North Carolina.
