CNHI, parent company of The Daily Star in Oneonta, New York, announced Thursday, Feb. 8, that Valerie Secor has been promoted to publisher of the newspaper.
Secor, 35, has been the newspaper's general manager since April 2022. She began her employment with CNHI and The Daily Star as an advertising sales representative in June 2015 and was promoted to advertising sales director in November 2018.
She will continue to serve as advertising sales director within her new position.
“When I moved to this area from the Midwest nine years ago, I was blown away by how welcoming everyone was. It felt like home immediately,” Secor said. “I am excited for the opportunity to lead The Daily Star forward. Work in this industry is not always easy, but it is worth it. We are doing important work here. I am just happy to be a part of it.”
