After a year and a half at the helm of The Kerrville Daily Times — including leading the newspaper’s coverage of one of the community’s most devastating tragedies — the need to provide that same steady leadership and support to his family is calling John Wells back to Alabama.
Wells, publisher of The Times, said the decision was a difficult one for him and his family.
“Serving as publisher of The Kerrville Daily Times over the past year and a half has been one of the greatest honors of my professional career,” Wells said. “From the very first day my family and I arrived in Kerrville, we were welcomed with kindness, generosity and a true sense of community that made this place quickly feel like home.”
Wells and his family will return home to Alabama in time for their oldest to begin school.
With his parents aging, and one facing health complications, Wells said he and his family ultimately decided that it was important to be there for them during that “season of life.”
