The Star Tribune Media Company, the largest news organization in the Midwest, has announced plans to further expand news coverage in Greater Minnesota.
With an already robust news presence in population centers like Duluth, St. Cloud and Rochester, the Star Tribune is doubling down on coverage by expanding existing reporting teams in these areas and beyond.
Star Tribune is hiring reporters, freelance writers and account executives based in North Central Minnesota (Brainerd, Bemidji and Grand Rapids), Northeast Minnesota (Duluth, Cloquet, Grand Marais and the Iron Range), West Central Minnesota (St. Cloud, Willmar and Moorhead), Southwest Minnesota (Mankato, Austin, Worthington and Marshall) and Southeast Minnesota (Rochester, Red Wing and Winona).
“At a time when many news organizations are contracting, we are making significant resource investments to ensure the voices of communities around our great state are represented,” said Steve Grove, CEO and publisher of the Star Tribune.
In addition, The Star Tribune is also seeking a Greater Minnesota columnist who is deeply rooted in the state and can offer insights on the changing dynamics of life in Greater Minnesota.
“Expanding our coverage and commentary in Minnesota doesn’t just mean hiring more people — we're also exploring partnerships with other local organizations to amplify coverage across the state,” added Grove. “Our goal to become a truly Minnesota news organization will help us to share more stories happening in a place that, in so many ways, is in the national spotlight.”
