After nearly five years of transformative leadership, Robin Blinder will retire as editor-in-chief of Editor & Publisher (E&P) Magazine, marking the close of a significant chapter in the publication’s 140-year history. Blinder has served in the role since September 2022 and has been a key member of the organization for more than six years.
During her tenure, Blinder led E&P’s editorial evolution at a time of profound change in the news media industry. As editor-in-chief, she guided coverage on critical issues including artificial intelligence, press freedom, audience engagement and the future of local journalism, while helping expand the publication’s reach and relevance across multiple platforms.
Prior to becoming editor-in-chief, Blinder served as associate publisher and vice president of editorial/content from September 2019 to September 2022, playing a central role in shaping E&P’s modern voice and strategy.
“Robin has been an extraordinary partner in our mission to strengthen and elevate E&P during one of the most pivotal periods in the history of news publishing,” said Mike Blinder, publisher of E&P Magazine. “I’ve been honored to have her by my side in our work to improve and grow this brand. In just six years working together, the audience across all of our platforms has increased by more than 300%. Her leadership, insight and unwavering commitment to journalism have left a lasting impact on our organization and the industry we serve.”
Succeeding Blinder as editor-in-chief is Gretchen A. Peck, a longtime contributing editor and respected journalist who has been reporting for E&P since 2010. Peck brings decades of experience covering the journalism best practices, newsroom leadership, and culture, technological innovation and evolving media business models.
Peck has also written extensively on industry transformation, press freedom and investigative reporting, contributing to more than 50 domestic and international publications. She previously served as editor-in-chief and editorial director for North American Publishing’s magazine group. Since 2001, she has consulted with broadcasters and publishers on content development, audience engagement and major event management.
“I’ve known Gretchen for years and have long respected her work and deep understanding of this industry,” said Mike Blinder. “She brings credibility, experience and a journalist’s instinct for the stories that matter most to our audience. I’m confident this will be a seamless and exciting transition for E&P.”
He also expressed confidence in the continuity of editorial excellence: “Gretchen understands both the heritage and the future of this publication. She is the right person to carry this forward.”
He noted that the transition reflects E&P’s ongoing commitment to serving news publishing executives with authoritative reporting, insight and analysis.
“I am honored to assume the role of editor-in-chef, following in the footsteps of Robin Blinder, who smartly advanced and broadened Editor & Publisher’s mission,” Peck said. “The magazine has a long tradition and proud legacy, dating back to the 1880s. I am here to build on it with clarity of vision and high editorial standards.”
Reflecting on her tenure, Robin Blinder expressed both pride and optimism for the future. “Serving as the editor-in-chief of E&P has been a joy and privilege. I’ve met and worked with amazing people in our industry, and it’s the people that give me hope for the future of news media. I’m excited for Gretchen Peck to put her mark on our publication. Her solid knowledge, journalistic expertise and passionate voice will carry E&P forward during this critical time.”
