Pugpig knows the importance of providing high quality digital product experiences for regional and local news readers. The Crain Communication Business titles in New York, Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland, JPI and MNA Digital portfolios in the United Kingdom and Australia Community Media have all launched their local news apps on the Pugpig platform in the last few months. Pugpig was founded on the principles that publishing is important and that it has a great future, and to that end, local news is vital to the communities that its journalism serves.

Crain Communications, based in Detroit, is a family-owned publishing conglomerate, with 21 brands across the world in a variety of sectors and industries. Crain’s Chicago Business provides readers with the best business news coverage in Chicago all in one handy app, with breaking news alerts and broad coverage. Other Crain Business titles cover the Detroit, New York and Cleveland areas. The Crain Communication digital platform project with Pugpig kicked off in January 2021 and in a few short weeks titles were successively launched across the App Stores and their marketing platforms. Crain Communications are also taking advantage of the Pugpig Enhanced PDF capability, which gives users more choice in how they want to read content, with smooth, easy transitions between faithful PDF replicas and mobile-friendly, beautifully-designed interactive HTML content.

Crain’s Chicago Business is live now on iOS and Android .

Pugpig has long had a strong foothold in the UK marketplace providing digital editions for national, regional and local newspapers. Most recently, Pugpig became the home of MNA Digital's regional news apps, including the Express & Star on Pugpig Bolt. The Express & Star News app offers readers handpicked news from across the West Midlands and beyond, alongside features such as daily interactive puzzles, football podcasts and their weekly magazine. Users can also personalize their content order and text size, set push notifications and curate their in-app libraries.

Pugpig has also been the technology partner of Australian Community Media as they have reimagined and relaunched their apps. Home of The Canberra Times and The Newcastle Herald, among other titles, the newly launched Pugpig Publish apps provide a much improved mobile reading experience for their readers. The new apps deliver a live news feed alongside daily editions, allow offline reading and incorporate a large puzzle section for each paper’s loyal readers.
