Gannett has named Mark Russell as vice president and region editor for the South.
The new appointment includes two Tier 1 Gannett sites in Nashville and Knoxville and 15 other newsrooms in Tennessee, Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina. Russell will remain executive editor of the Commercial Appeal in Memphis.
