Two promoted to managing editor positions

Lee Wolverton has been named executive editor of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and will oversee the newsroom operations in Little Rock and Fayetteville.

“I really believe we're at a turning point for our two biggest newsrooms in Arkansas,” said Allison Shirk, vice president of content and newsroom strategy at WEHCO Media Inc., which operates the two newspapers. ...

Besides Wolverton's hiring, two promotions were announced.

Stacy Hawkins has been promoted to managing editor of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Hawkins has worked at the newspaper since 1980, when it was known as the Arkansas Democrat. He has been acting managing editor since Alyson Hoge retired in July. Hawkins previously held the title of deputy managing editor.

Dave Perozek has been promoted to managing editor of the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Perozek already held that title, but after Lisa Thompson resigned as executive editor in July the job description of managing editor was rewritten to include duties that previously had been the executive editor's.
