Georges Media Group, Louisiana’s largest locally owned media company and publisher of The Times-Picayune | NOLA.com, The Advocate, The Acadiana Advocate, The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate, Arthur Hardy’s Mardi Gras Guide, Adore and Gambit, is pleased to announce the addition of Hank Stuever to The Times-Picayune and The Advocate as managing editor for enterprise journalism.
Stuever, who twice has been named a Pulitzer Prize finalist in feature writing, started in his new role in March.
During his 26 years at The Washington Post, Stuever worked as a reporter, chief TV critic and editor. His last leadership role there was executive features editor, where he led coverage of culture, the arts, politics, media and other topics for the Post's nationally acclaimed Style section.
“We are very fortunate to have Hank join us,” said Rene Sanchez, editor of The Times-Picayune, The Advocate and NOLA.com and also a former Washington Post reporter. “He’s one of the best journalists in the country.”
Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Stuever graduated with a journalism degree from Loyola University in New Orleans. He said the city made a big impression on him, which is why he wants to return.
“I left with a good journalism education and a desire to tell stories about life and how it is lived, in all of its challenges as well as its joys and drama and scope,” Stuever said. “I can think of no better place right now than Louisiana to return and share some of what I've learned with the hardworking journalists at all the Advocate newsrooms.”
In his new position, Stuever will be based in New Orleans but will also work with editors and reporters in Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Shreveport.
