Gannett, IndyStar announce $2 million investment to grow local reporting and sales staffs

Gannett executives and leaders at the Indianapolis Star on Tuesday announced a multimillion-dollar effort to bolster the Star’s operations and grow its staff.

The plan includes investments that will support both the newsroom and LocaliQ, Gannett’s Indianapolis sales and advertising team.

“This is a generational investment into IndyStar and the community,” said Eric Larsen, the Star’s executive editor.

Larsen said readers can expect to see more coverage that’s reflective of the city and meets their needs in critical areas like government accountability and community-centered journalism. These investments, he said, are meant to strengthen “the bedrock that makes us the newspaper of record.”
