Alejandra Matos has been named the Houston Chronicle's managing editor for news and strategy, a role in which she will oversee operations and key reporting from core news teams such as business, local and state politics, data, education and more.
“Alejandra has been at the center of every major news story in Texas for the past two years. She led coverage of statewide elections and politics, the statewide push for vouchers, Texas’ battle to ban THC, Hill Country flooding, hurricanes, natural disaster recovery and more,” said Kelly Ann Scott, editor in chief of the Houston Chronicle. “As a native Texan, she understands the issues facing Houston and our state — and can shape coverage for Texans.”
