Katherine Miller, a veteran newspaper executive who began her career in Joplin, Missouri, has been appointed publisher of The Joplin Globe.

“I am very excited to be back in Joplin where I grew up, began my career and raised my children,” Miller said. “I still have strong ties to this community with family and friends who reside here.

“Joplin has always been the place I call home and I look forward to spending my time getting reacquainted with the community. My goal is to continue to guide The Joplin Globe in this ever-changing world and build on the positive strides the talented team have been making.”

Miller was named publisher of The Norman Transcript, in Norman, Oklahoma, and the Chickasha Express-Star, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, in 2023, and she will continue in that role.

Before that, she served as group publisher of three Alabama newspapers owned at the time by CNHI, the parent company of both the Globe and the Transcript.

Miller is a native of Joplin who began her newspaper career at the Globe in 1996 as an advertising representative, selling retail and classified ads into a variety of print publications and digital platforms. She eventually became the Globe’s assistant sales manager before serving as an executive at the Alabama papers in 2010.

“Katherine's drive, energy and proven track record of success will not only be a tremendous asset for the Globe but for the Joplin community she already knows well and to which she has deeps ties,” said Robyn McCloskey, executive vice president of newspaper operations for CNHI.
