Over half of Americans get their news from social media

According to a new Pew Research Center report, a majority (55 percent) of American adults now say they “often” or “sometimes” get their news from social media. That’s an 8 percent increase from 2018.

The report also found that most Americans (88 percent) understand that social media companies have at least some control over their daily news mix. However, only 62 percent saw this as a problem.
