Presteligence welcomes The Riverton Ranger as latest publisher to switch to NewsXtreme Cloud

Posted

Last year, Riverton Ranger was purchased by Edwards Printing of South Carolina, a current user of NewsXtreme. With the help of new ownership, Riverton will expand back into commercial printing.

Solutions

Riverton publishes weekly newspaper titles covering a remote area of central Wyoming: Riverton Ranger, Wind River News, The Lander Journal & Fremont County Sports. Running their printing off an aging Goss Community press, one of the problems the papers sought to resolve was control of registration issues inherent within the press’ configuration of black and yellow towers separated from cyan and magenta. NewsXtreme Cloud resolves this by applying fan-out adjustment features included with the software. Additionally, NewsXtreme Cloud’s plate cocking feature will help align a plate on a tower with a bad lockup.

Easy-to-use

Riverton Ranger Publisher Robert Stover has firsthand experience running presses and was very engaged throughout the implementation.

“I like the ease of use of the software, and that it takes the user error out of imposition, making it easy to dial things in."
Robert Stover, publisher, Riverton Ranger

A better result

Riverton also is taking advantage of Presteligence’s Ink-Miser software that automatically replaces areas of cyan, magenta and yellow with an equivalent amount of black ink, saving up to 30% of ink consumption for all pages. With a higher line screen than previously used in addition with Ink-Miser, Stover commented, “The color on the press looks better.”
