Dr. Jon Hess has been named the next director of the School of Communication Studies at the College of Communication and Information at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, effective July 1, 2022. Hess currently serves as associate dean for faculty scholarship, internationalization and inclusive excellence in the College of Arts and Sciences and professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Dayton.
“We are thrilled to have Dr. Hess join the team as we implement the university’s new strategic vision and craft a new strategic plan for the College of Communication and Information,” said Dean Joseph Mazer. “He brings extensive academic leadership experience and disciplinary expertise to this position and will empower our faculty and students to excel in their research, teaching and studies.”
