Georges Media Group announces the launch of the Shreveport-Bossier Advocate

Georges Media Group, Louisiana’s largest locally owned media organization and publisher of The Times-Picayune | NOLA.com, The Advocate, The Acadiana Advocate and Gambit, is thrilled to announce a full expansion of our news coverage into the Shreveport-Bossier City market. Launching this July, the Shreveport-Bossier Advocate will be a dedicated digital newsroom of 10 journalists living and working in the community and focusing on in-depth local news. 

“We are excited to launch a suite of digital news products for the Shreveport-Bossier communities. We will provide a robust report on local news topics that impact residents’ lives and marketing solutions that will help businesses thrive,” noted Judi Terzotis, publisher. 

The Shreveport-Bossier community has long been essential not only to Louisiana’s success but to the region at large. There are countless stories to tell and our team of local journalists is ready and eager to do the work needed to shine an even brighter spotlight on the area. To support that endeavor, we are partnering with the Community Foundation of North Louisiana who is furthering its charitable mission of promoting philanthropy and improving the quality of life in North Louisiana and will act as the fiscal sponsor for donations to the Shreveport-Bossier Journalism Fund which will provide funding for local journalism using high standards of research, utilization of primary sources and rigorous fact-checking.  

“We believe local news is vital. Leaders across Shreveport and Bossier City have told us how much they value it and how much it’s missing. Our plan is to provide in-depth local news from a team of journalists who care about this community,” said Rene Sanchez, vice president of news. 

“Northwest Louisiana is a place of great resources and potential. But we lack a deeply engaged journalistic organization that shines light into our community. Where there are touchpoints with excellence in Northwest Louisiana, they are often unseen or underappreciated. Where long-standing problems exist, the climb to overcome them only grows steeper without robust investigative news. The effort to build Northwest Louisiana up requires a strong journalistic voice to ensure accountability in the process. Good journalism is essential to defining our common identity and those things that make Northwest Louisiana unique. I believe our company’s support of The Advocate moves our region ahead and will be a source of pride for every Fibrebond employee,” said Graham Walker, president and CEO of Fibrebond.
