Digital News Producer

The Post and Courier
Charleston, S.C.
Date posted: June 5, 2020

The Post and Courier is looking for a Digital News Producer to join our team at a critical time in the future of our newsroom. You will be on the front lines of growing our audience, building trust with our readers and designing social messaging for some of the best journalism in the South. We are an industry leader in the transition of our business model toward growing digital subscriptions. We are succeeding thanks to the quality of the work we produce and a willingness to experiment.

The Digital News Producer plans, develops, edits, packages, optimizes, promotes and analyzes our journalism and other content offerings across all digital, social, email, audio and other emerging platforms. The producer writes and edits newsletter products as needed, including our flagship Morning and Evening Roundups; curates our hand-designed homepage with guidance from analytics and personal news judgment; and collaborates to produce unique digital experiences for projects and investigations in this Pulitzer Prize-winning newsroom.

We aren’t a “feed the beast” newsroom or one that focuses on page views. We believe in contextualized, in-depth reporting and the power of a well-written story. We need a champion of our brand who is literate in internet culture, passionate about news, adaptable, creative and collaborative – someone who can balance seriousness and levity and know the time for each.

This is a great newsroom with lots of freedom, where people enjoy working together, cheer each other on and share a mission. We are family owned by a company that invests in the newsroom, and we are on the path to growing The Post and Courier into a statewide newspaper.

Charleston offers an incredible quality of life, named No. 1 city in the nation and No. 2 in the world by readers of Travel + Leisure magazine. Enjoy a thriving food and arts scene, surrounded by history and a natural environment that offers boundless outdoor recreation opportunities.
