As the publisher of the weekly paper for 20 years, Vickey Boyd and the Moultrie (South Carolina) News became synonymous. Her desire to be a part of the community that the paper serves never faded throughout her career, from ribbon cuttings and Chamber of Commerce luncheons to community-wide events.
As Boyd reflected on the sum of 50 years with the newspaper group, she said she got the “dream job of a lifetime.”
“You realize one day 50 years goes by and you’re sitting there going, ‘Oh my gosh, how did it get to be 50 years?’” Boyd said.
