Joe Goodman, one of the last of his kind, died peacefully Sunday morning, Dec. 31, in the house his grandfather built along the banks of Muddy Creek outside Clemmons. He would have been 87 in a couple of weeks.

Wayne Wanta, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) Journalism professor and former Journalism Department chair, is retiring at the end of this year after a 12-year tenure at the College. Wanta will pursue a Fulbright Scholar Award at the University of Wroclaw in Poland and write a book on international sports.
