After serving as assistant sports editor at The Shawnee (Oklahoma) News-Star for 13 years from 1989-2002, Brian Johnson is back as the new sports editor.
He spent the past 17 years working for East Central University in Ada, where he was ECU’s sports information director for the first 10 years and spent the next seven years as communications coordinator.
His belief in local journalism and its importance to the community is an important part of why he returned to the News-Star. "The News-Star does indeed have its place in Shawnee and I look forward to helping tell the numerous success stories and hard work of student-athletes and coaches," he said.
