In Myrtle Beach, Nick Masuda will lead the Myrtle Beach staff. He comes to The Post and Courier from a stint as editor of the daily newspaper in Santa Barbara, California.

Executive Editor Mitch Pugh says he brings "infectious enthusiasm and passion for the craft to the job. He’s also a digital dynamo that is equally comfortable getting news online as he is getting it into print."

The paper has also made its first reporter hire. Tyler Fleming has been covering Horry County and the Grand Strand since May 2018 for the Myrtle Beach Sun-News. His beats have included the county, the city of Conway, Coastal Carolina University and housing.

Pugh said, "Tyler is another high-energy journalist built for this work. He got his training at the University of North Carolina, where he served as editor-in-chief of The Daily Tarheel. He’s also had internships at The Charlotte Observer and Greensboro News & Record."

Additional hires will be announced soon.
