Manny Garcia named as senior editor of the investigative team for The Texas Tribune and ProPublica

Manny García, a veteran reporter and editor, has been named to lead The Texas Tribune's ambitious investigative collaboration with ProPublica.

Garcia, a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, is the first of 11 hires for The Texas Tribune's joint project with ProPublica. He joins the staff next month, where his No. 1 job will be to fill out the rest of the team.

Garcia currently works with the USA TODAY Network, where he is the ethics and standards editor. Before that, he was the network’s East Region executive editor, overseeing more than 50 newsrooms. He has also served as editor of the Naples Daily News, the editor and general manager of Spanish-language el Nuevo Herald, and the senior news editor of the Miami Herald.
